Admissions

When a child steps within the school’s ivy covered brick walls, he or she experiences the tradition of learning and responsibility that has made Grace Episcopal School an educational landmark in Ouachita Parish since 1954.

As an outreach mission of Grace Episcopal Church, Grace Episcopal School actively seeks students who can successfully benefit from its challenging academic program.  Grace School is committed to providing a learning environment in which each student is encouraged to excel academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Three year olds through eighth grade students of many religious, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds are accepted.  Prospective parents and students are invited to tour the campus.  Please contact the Director of Institutional Advancement to schedule an appointment.

 Admissions Criteria
Students are selected for admission to Grace Episcopal School on the basis on the following criteria: developmental maturity, academic readiness and qualification, affiliation with Grace Episcopal School or Grace Episcopal Church, affiliation with another Episcopal Church, diversity, gender balance, and the appropriateness of the match between the family and the school. To assist in the assessment of each applicant, the application process involves an interview, observation, and testing. Consideration is given to achievement testing, a writing sample, and teacher recommendations. Students applying for Pre-School and Kindergarten are required to participate in a readiness assessment.

In all cases, the school retains the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether or not to select a student for admission or to re-enroll a student. The Admissions Committee makes recommendations to the Head of School, who has the ultimate authority and sole discretion in the decision for admission of a student. All information gathered during the admissions process is confidential and the sole property of Grace Episcopal School.

Students must turn 3 by September 30th of their enrolling year. For first grade, students must turn 6 by September 30th to begin the school year.
