New Character Program Introduced at GES!

The new character program at Grace is underway.  Positive Forces, a Monroe counseling service under the leadership of Dr. Pam Newman, a past Grace parent, has custom designed a character program for the Grace community. The character education curriculum includes five broad modules of social development and will last for 25 weeks (from just after Labor Day through mid-May). Each week, a new topic will be introduced and discussed.

The Middle School has created a unique system to tie in with the new character program. Rather than following conventional thinking that there are students in individual grades, a house system (much like the idea in the Harry Potter series) had been devised in which all students are equally divided into four houses in grades 6-8. Once a student enters The Gator House (the name for our Middle School) in grade 6, he or she will join 1 of the 4 houses and will be in that house until graduation. The four houses are the Silent Strikers, Ringtail Bandits, White Talons and Pit Vipers. Contests will occur throughout the year in which each house will vie for the ultimate prize, the Gator House Cup. This program will reinforce positive behavior and will add a tremendous amount of pride in our Middle School students.

We are very excited about this outstanding addition at Grace, and we look forward to providing you with timely updates throughout the year!
